Day 62

Some of Tasmania's most beautiful coastline is found on the east coast. We went for a walk at the beach to see the area called Bay of Fires

This is the first shark I met on the Australian beaches - I hope it's the last!

Day 61

We left for a 9 days roadtrip on Tasmania in a rented Campervan - licensed for 2 persons but could easily fit 3 small Danish girls:)

We drove along Tamar Valley Wine Route and visited Lilydale where Providence Vineyard, Tasmania's oldest vineyard is located. The wines had a fantastic taste and we bough a Tasmanian CRU pinot noir for our trip

Next stop was in Pyengana where we tasted their popular kinds of cheddar cheese. We bought a mature cheddar that goes well with the wine from Providence Vineyard - classic and perfect for the next days in our campervan!

Day 60

In Launceston I visited Jackie together with Regitse and Malene, who are also traveling with Servas. Jackie is a lovely, warm-hearted lady who agreed to take us even if she had other things to do, she became our mother for the three days we ended up staying with her.


With Jackie as our local guide we went on a walking track to Liffey Falls through the rainforest. Liffey Falls is located around 40 km's west of Launceston.

This is The Gorge that is located on the way from Launceston to Jackie's place (about 1.5 km's) and it is beautiful.

At dinner Jackie's neighbour Ros joined us and we had a nice evening.

Day 59

Happy Australia Day:) Unfortunately we won't be celebrating much because we are travelling to Tasmania today!

During the flight we were trying to figure out how to get to Launceston on Tasmania. We were suppose to fly to Launceston but something went wrong during the internet booking and the plane took us to Hobart (about 200 km's south of Launceston)!

We decided to rent a small Nissan and go on a road trip to Launceston!

I was the driver! The left side was a challenge but everything went fine:)

On our way we made a stop in Oatlands, a historic village on Tasmania with  the largest collection of sandstone Georgian buildings in Australia. Colonialists first started settling at Oatlands in the 1820's, a decade before the founding of Melbourne! Today, the township of Oatlands, with a population of approximately 600, continues to be the rural service centre of the Southern Midlands.
